We had the chance to enjoy 3 hours of Windsurfing lessons with Andy. He has a professional background in Windsurfing and even attended the world championships. Therefore he was simply the perfect fit to teach us how to windsurf. He gave us the first instructions on the beach and explained to us everything we needed to know about the technique. After about an hour we headed out to try our luck on the water. Andy patiently hooked himself to the board and corrected our mistakes. It was an absolutely great experience and we learned a lot during our lesson.
The instructors of Vela Cabarete are from all around the world and speak Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, and Russian.
The Vela center is equipped with the latest NeilPryde, Cabrinha, JP-Australia, and Starboard equipment which makes learning faster, easier and more fun.
Vela also offers tours and activities. Their shop is filled with all the gear needed for windsurfing, kitesurfing, paddleboarding, and surfing. From beach clothing to a large range of accessories, you will surely find what you need. Andy and his team also offer Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Yoga, and Fit BootCamp for SUP lessons for all levels.
The restaurant at the center, Voyvoy opens from 7.30 am to late in the night serves delicious meals, refreshing drinks, and even features some parties.
All the classes include equipment (board, paddle, leash, life jacket). We suggest wearing comfortable clothes and sunscreen. Hat/visor/lip balm and croakies for sunglasses are recommended. Bring an extra change of clothes/towel that will be locked while you are on the water.
