A truly fantastic way to move around on water is stand up paddle boarding which is an offshoot of surfing. Much unlike traditional surfing where the rider sits until a wave approaches, stand up paddle boarders stand on their boards and use a paddle to propel themselves through the water. You can find many different variations including flat water paddling, fitness, sightseeing, racing on lakes, large rivers and canals, surfing on ocean waves, paddling in river rapids, Paddle board yoga and even fishing. I did a fitness and sightseeing tour through the mostly calm waters of the gulf of Praria. After only a few minutes you will feel comfortable enough to fully enjoy the ride and stay up safely. To learn new movements and to see the shore from a very different kind of perspective makes this sport a fantastic experience which you should definitely give a try.
