Neoprene
“Neoprene” is not a raw material in the actual sense, but a brand name of the DuPont company and a trading name for this type of raw material that is now common in the textile industry. Other names are e.g. Polychloroprene or chlorobutadiene. Neoprene® is not a naturally occurring substance but is artificially produced using complex manufacturing processes. In this case, we are dealing with cellular rubber, which is manufactured or foamed in blocks, then usually cut into sheets and delivered in this form to the processing industry.
Depending on the application, these mats are thicker or thinner, contain different amounts of air bubbles (mainly responsible for the quality of the insulation property), and can be coated on one or both sides with other materials. But also without further treatment such as Coating or similar cellular rubber does not absorb moisture. The typical aging sequence for cellular rubber is shrinkage, which is product-specific and unavoidable.

The Neopren® mats are cut, finished and sewn or glued by the employees in the production facilities, who have decades of experience with the processing of Neopren®, according to the specifications (templates) (e.g. with the “Classic” overshoe model). The manufacturing process up to the end product is very complex and relatively expensive, however, this ensures a perfect and uniform quality in terms of function and fit. There is currently no comparable material that offers almost the same thermal insulation as Neopren®, but also offers a good price/performance ratio. For this reason, the “Classic” (5.0mm) and “Basic” (3.5mm) overshoe models are made from Neoprene® – so that you can do your sport unclouded even at sub-zero temperatures.
