Most Beautiful Towns In Colombia

Here are our 5 Most Beautiful Towns In Colombia:

5. SALENTO

This lovely little town is located in the heart of Quindio- the region where the most delicious Colombian coffee is cultivated. We loved it for the location- the green hills covered with coffee trees. Stroll around the little streets, admire the handcraft, and don’t forget to visit the Cocora Valley with its enormous palm trees and extraordinary landscape. Take the opportunity and get to know all about the coffee production on one of the farms.

Cafe Bernal will host you like kings and teach you all you need to know about the coffee cultivation and brewing.

4. ROLDANILLO

Located in Valle de Cauca, Roldanillo is famous for two things- great cycling paths and paragliding. We had the chance to try both and were simply astonished! If you are crazy about bikes like us, you will surely want to enjoy a coffee or meal in the Tricota Cafe- a 3in1 restaurant, bike workshop, and a shop with beautiful cycling clothes. In the evening you can enjoy some local wine, go for a horseback ride or visit the museum of Omar Rayo- one of the most famous Colombian artist.

Where to stay?

Hostal La Curva is a great place ran by wonderful people who will surely help you organize all the activities during your stay.

Montana la Posada is also a great place to stay with breathtaking views over the valley. They also have a restaurant with super delicious food!

3. GUATAPE

‘The most colorful town in Colombia’ is located only an hour’s drive from Medellin and offers views and landscapes impossible to find in any other place in the world. Penol Rock is one of its kind tourist attraction. Climb it and admire the lake and green hills which are surrounding Guatape.

If you are a shopper, the town will not let you down. Handcraft is sold in many colorful little streets and alleys. You will be surprised, as the variety is simply overwhelming. If you are like us and prefer nature, go ahead and rent a bike, scooter, or a kayak with Getaway Colombia to explore the surroundings.

Where to stay?

The Lake View hostel is one of the best hostels we stayed at during our 5-months trip to Colombia. The hostel offers many activities and the staff will help you organize your stay. And the food in their Thai restaurant is to die for!

2. SILVIA

The calmest town in Colombia is located in the southern part of the country near Popayan city. It seems to be separated from the busy life outside the town. To get there we had to climb up for many hours but it was totally worth it. The altitude of 2800 meters above sea level makes the air cool and fresh, which is very pleasant during the hikes through the hills.

Silvia is the home to Misak people- the indigenous community which perceived their own language and traditional clothes. Each Tuesday Silvia is filled with tourists and locals coming to shop on a big market with handcraft, fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Where to stay?

Casa Turistica de Silvia which happens to be also a museum is a very charming place with a unique style.

1. ZAPATOCA

It was love from the first sight. Zapatoca, located in Santander took our breath away and left us speechless. This white town is absolutely beautiful and there is nothing about it we wouldn’t like. To get there by bicycle was a real challenge but all the pain was forgotten as soon as we entered Zapatoca. The surroundings are exceptional, especially for mountain bike fans. You can hike to waterfalls and climb green hills. There are many lovely cafes and restaurants around town where you can try local wine and coffee. We were lucky enough to try the local specialty- roasted ants! If you ask us- this town is a must-see while visiting Colombia!

Where to stay?

Casa Oasis Zapatoca is run by absolutely lovely and kind people. The hotel is newly renovated and located in the very center of the town.

Casa Palosanto serves the best food you can think of and the interiors are simply beautiful- Colombian style at its best!
