Ston Eiland is located around 100 kilometers south from Paramaribo, the capital city of Suriname. It certainly is one of the most magnificent and extraordinary places we have had a chance to visit. Leaving the main road, all guests need to travel an additional 5 kilometers in order to find the resort. What awaits them at the and is both surprising and breathtaking. Lodges lay right at the lake and the sandy beach. What makes the place so unusual and one of its kind are trees.
Naked trunks are poking straight from the water. Thousands of them can be seen from the shore until the horizon for the lake is very vast. This very special landscape was created after building a dam and flooding a huge part of the forest. Nowadays tourists from all over the world come here to take a boat trip and enjoy these incredible landscapes. Ston Eiland surely emanates the atmosphere of mystery and truly is a magical place. Sunset there was the most beautiful thing we experienced during our journey through Suriname.
