The Balsa Surf Camp is a colorful and tranquil hostel in Montañita with typical and picturesque architecture (bamboo, wood, and palms) surrounded by a lot of vegetation. It has its own philosophy by mixing surf, art, and nature, with a mystical touch. It was created with love by Cesar Moreira and the French Julie Daumas. The adventure began in 2011 when they built the hostel from scratch with the help of local friends, artists, and carpenters, creating a unique place with a magical atmosphere!
The Balsa Surf Camp won the traveler’s choice Excellence Award 2013, 2014 & 2017 for a reason. You can choose between various individually designed rooms, which will all leave you in awe. You can enjoy a private bathroom, hammocks and mosquito nets. Massages and other wellness options are offered to you in the Spa. You can take part in many adventure tours and workshops. Balsa even has a tattoo and piercing shop.
The yoga & meditation classes are free for all guests. You will find a jacuzzi and many chill corners on the property. The staff is very attentive and private parking is included as well.
The Balsa Surf Shop has everything from customized surfboards, art, and souvenirs, jewelry to handmade bags.

Surf lessons are open for everyone, who has the courage to jump on a surfboard! Everything depends on your motivation, perseverance, and desire!
Balsas’ main concern is your safety and comfort. That’s why their service includes excellent boards and certified professional instructors, with a lot of experience. All of the instructors are very good surfers, and some of them are even national champions.
Each course depends on the tides and also on the level and spirit of each student. They will even videotape you so that you can see and correct yourself with the help of the instructor.
The restaurant El Eden welcomes you every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, in the heart of the Balsa Surf Camp. There are five delicious breakfast options, including 1 vegan choice. You will find a menu with typical seafood dishes and other delicious options. You can also find a variety of vegetarian dishes on the menu. Do not miss the Pizza Party every Monday with our nice wood oven!
