Porto Lopez, the famous town on the Pacific Coast of Ecuador, offers many things and mixes tranquility with a few places to go out. Not too far from Montanita, it is definitely worth the trip to check out this little fishing town. Hosteria Oceanic offers a quiet stay that can easily turn into a night out.
Hosteria Oceanic is located at the end of the waterfront, literally the last building on the stretch. The main restaurant area can be reached within a 10min easy and save walk. If you can, try not to miss out on the early morning ritual in town. Each morning, around 6:00-7:30 the day’s fishing catch is brought in the beach. A mad rush ensues with best catches being bought and carted away quite quickly. You can see sharks, swordfish, wahoo (from the tuna family), and more. Apart from fish, you will see at least frigate birds and pelicans trying to get their share of the catch.
Additionally, Porto Lopez is the closest town to the Parque Nacional Machilalla which has some amazing cactus landscape to offer. The ride up the coast towards Porto Cayo should be on your list to do.
Hosteria Oceanic has everything to offer from quiet space and private pool to restaurant service that charters good and delicious Ecuadorian coastal kitchen.
Hosteria Oceanic, the perfect summer beach vibe all year round in this climate, you most certainly will not be cold.
